Community Message

This is a Community Message from Aylesbury Watch Office on Tuesday 15 June 2010.

Two local residents in the Long Crendon and Hartwell areas have recently received unsolicited phone calls from callers, claiming to be from a home security company and other calls from a Computer company.

The conversation with the Computer Company suggests that they can assist with problems with your home PC. Your PC maybe running too slow, or you maybe experiencing frequent disconnection problems.

It is worth reminding all watch members of the following advice from Trading Standards - do not deal with cold callers. Never give personal information to unknown callers and never give passwords, credit cards and bank details over the telephone.

You can also register your telephone number with the Telephone Preference Service. This is the official central opt-out register where you can record your preference not to receive unsolicited sales or marketing calls. You can do this online at www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/ or by calling 0845 070 0707
