Baby Congratulations - Margaret Mary Gabrielle Henry was born on Good Friday, April 18 to Colm and Claire Henry of Winchendon Road. A sister for Finn and Charlie. With such well chosen first 2 Christian names, Maggie is in good company ! Congratulations and best wishes to all the family.

Welcome Home - Benjamin Jack Tuxworth, born 3 months early on January 28 is now home from hospital. Weighing 2lb 2oz when he was born, Benjamin now weighs nearly 5lb. His family, Richard and Pam and their daughters, Jemima and Milly who live in Willow Gate, are delighted to have him home at last. Congratulations and best wishes to all the family. Photos of the Tuxworth and Henry families with their new babies can be seen below.

18th Birthday Congratulations to Marcus Travers of School Lane who was 18 on May 1 and who celebrated by buying his Dad, Mark, a pint of beer in The Bell together with many friends and family at a surprise party.


Aylesbury Choral Society - On Saturday April 26 the BBC played on Radio 3 as part of their Georgian season, “I was Glad” by Attwood, sung by Aylesbury Choral Society on their recently recorded CD. There was also an interview with the Chairman of the Society, Gus Orchard. Ann Hooton who recently moved after 30 or more years in Chearsley and Rosemary Wallis, long time Chearsley resident are members of the Society. Cyndy Whiffin who died just over 2 years ago was also a keen member.

The Bell - British Sandwich week runs from May 12 to 16 and The Bell is celebrating this by offering sandwiches with a variety of fillings. Another Bank Holiday Barbeque will be held in the garden of The Bell on Sunday May 25 with food served from 5 to 7pm.

Chearsley Cricket Club - The Club under the chairmanship of Ian Houseman has some new committee members for this year. James Veness is 1st team captain, Peter Redfern is Director of Cricket, Andy Gray is Treasurer and Angela Gray Director of Junior Cricket. New players are always welcome to join the club which fields 2 teams in competitive cricket on Saturdays. The 1st XI will be playing this season in Division 4 and the 2nd XI in Division 9 of the Cherwell League.
Sunday fixtures will include the Chairman’s Match on June 8 and the Ann Veness Memorial Match on August 24. On Bank Holiday Monday May 26, Chearsley Sixes tournament takes place. Spectators to matches this season - which will soon be starting - are always welcome to come up and watch the games, support the Chearsley teams and enjoy a drink from the bar in the Clubhouse. Please note that parking at the Club is no longer available in the Millennium Field, Chilton Road. There are spaces behind the Pavilion via the main entrance in Winchendon Road.

Mobile Library – this is next in the village on Monday May 19 from 10.00 to 10.25am at The Bell.

Chearsley W. I. - their next meeting will be on Tuesday May 20 when Claire Lazaruk will be talking on techniques of Basic Resuscitation for adults, babies and children. All our welcome to come to this talk in the village hall at 2.00pm. There is a charge of £4 for non-members.
