Special Ringing for Christmas

In recent years, St Nicholas Church has hosted a special peal of ringing in the run-up to Christmas.  It didn't happen last year, but we're pleased to report that on 17th December, starting around 11:00am, we'll have a visiting band ringing a quarter peal to mark the recent St Nicholas Day and to help get us into the Christmas mood.  Do listen out for what promises to be some excellent ringing.

Help the Homeless this Christmas

Dear all,
As you may know, at Harvest Festival our gifts of food usually go to the Porch centre for the homeless in Oxford.  With Christmas approaching, which can be especially hard for the homeless and vulnerably housed, The Porch is making plans to make the "festive season" as good as possible for the Members. Apart from special meals, everyone attending on the 25th will be given a present. We have been approached to ask if we might like to help with contributing towards small Christmas gifts.  If you would like to help, The Porch have provided a list, which I have copied below.

Any donations can be left in the food bank box in our church porch and I will separate these out from the foodbank items.  We will take any items donated before Christmas.

 Many thanks,
 Darren

Festival of Lessons & Carols

Our customary ‘Festival of Lessons & Carols’ took place at St Nicholas Church on Sunday evening (12th December).

The congregation enjoyed a marvellous occasion, including a wonderful performance from our Benefice Choir, with choristers from our three local churches Chearsley, Long Crendon and Nether Winchendon.

Following the service, mulled wine and mince pies were served in the churchyard, with illumination provided by the Christmas Star on the church tower.

Our sincere thanks to all who contributed to this wonderful evening of celebration.

Please feel free to visit our beautiful church in the coming weeks and a full list of Christmas services at our three Benefice churches is available here
