Village News

with Margaret Morbey

Flora and Fauna Fayre on Saturday 26th June
Let’s hope for sunny, warm weather to help make this day really special and successful. Come along with plenty of money, and have a good time,  when you can meet up with neighbours and friends, relax on The Green, pop into The Bell, seek out a bargain from the many stalls, take your chance on the Bottle Tombola, watch the Morris Dancing, see the Animal Man and many more traditional Village Fete attractions.  It all starts at 2pm and ends approximately 5pm after the raffle is drawn. If you still need to buy raffle tickets, (and there are a lot of good prizes, including lunch at e Manoir aux Quat' Saisons for 2),  or would like more, they are available from The Bell, Village Stores and on the day.  The fun carries on into the evening when there will be a live band and hog roast at The Bell, starting at about 7pm. Chilli and jacket potato will also be available from Jay at the Shop. Come and have fun.

Midsummer Madness with Chearsley Cricket Club

Another chance to go dancing! Saturday July 10th when the Cricket Club are organising a hog roast and local band Hair of the Dog will be playing in The Bell garden. Tickets are £10 each available from The Tearooms and The Bell. All money raised will go towards the development and improvement of the Club’s facilities. Please contact John Howard on 208036 for more information.

Ron Oliver
I am told by Peter Martin of Bernards Close that his neighbour, Ron Oliver, who had lived there for more than 40 years has died. He had been in  increasingly poor health for many years. His funeral has taken place at Oxford Crematorium.  Thank you to Peter for this information and best wishes go to Alva, his wife, after her recent operation and stay in hospital. Alva will be remembered by many as a teacher at Chearsley school.

Parish Council meeting,  Monday 28th June
The next Parish Council meeting will be held at The Village Hall on Monday 28th June at 7.30pm. All members of the public are welcome and are able to raise any matters at two 15 minute sessions at the beginning and end of the meeting.

Recycling Tuesday 29th June
Bins, baskets and bottle containers will be collected on this day.
