Carol singing round Chearsley
Two nights of carol singing round Chearsley before Christmas  raised £540. This will be divided between 2 charities with which Chearsley has close associations. This is DEBRA,  which is concerned with a rare genetic disease causing fragile skin, and for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Poppy Appeal
Sue Grimsdell’s door to door collection last November raised a record £434.88. She would like to thank everyone who gave so generously to this cause, which with one son currently out in Afghanistan until April, is very close to the Grimsdell family’s hearts.

Race for Space – Cuddington and Dinton School Field Appeal
The School’s fund to improve the sports field and build storage/changing facilities is one of the Community Matters Boxes at Waitrose  during January. This means that every time you shop at Waitrose and are given a green disc, by putting it in the Race for Space compartment, you will be helping  Cuddington and Dinton school raise money for improving their sports field.

Chearsley Tea Rooms
Your last chance for a cup of tea, piece of cake or bacon sandwich will be on Friday 14th January, when sadly the tea rooms close. Janine will have equipment from the Tea room on sale from Monday 17th to Friday 21st.

Saturday, 15th January brings new opening hours for the shop, as follows
Monday to Friday. Open 7.30am. Closed  between 1.00 and 3.00pm. Open 3.00 until 7.00pm
Saturday : Open 8.30 am until 12.00pm
Sunday :  Open 9.00am until 12.00pm.

To keep the shop open, it needs to be used.  Come and take the time to have a look at what you can buy. You may be surprised at how well stocked it is, including a good variety of biscuits, wines, and sweets. If you do not feel able to alter your shopping habits away from the big supermarkets, why not resolve to always use the shop to buy the locally produced eggs,  choose from the good selection of  greeting cards,  take advantage of the easy to drop off and pick up Dry Cleaning service, use the photocopier. While in the shop, you will be reminded of just what an important part of village life it is  and how vital it is we all make every effort to  use it. We don’t want it to close again.
