Village News

with Margaret Morbey

Bingo - the monthly Bingo was held at The Bell on Tuesday April 2. The pub was comfortably filled with a few familiar faces missing. There were some good cash prizes for the line and full house with the winning last jackpot game attracting a prize of £63 – a good investment for the 6 games for £6.00. Our usual bingo callers, Paul and Andy were in fine form, having perfected the art of dropping the bingo balls on the floor which then entails good audience participation in “hunt the missing bingo ball”. Perhaps the excitement of having a birthday on bingo night affected Andy. He was in good company with Harry Babington who was 8 on the same day. Happy Birthday to them and thank you for the cake. The raffle money raised £43 for the various charities in the pub. Please come to the next Bingo session which will be on Tuesday May 7.

Sunshine Bazaar at Cuddington - the annual Spring Bazaar will be held in Bernard Hall on Saturday April 13 at 2pm when there will be teas, raffle, tombola, DVDs, cakes, household goods, books, nearly new clothes and many other bargains to raise funds for the fortnightly Sunshine club get together for the villages of Cuddington , Nether Winchendon and Chearsley, a social group meeting for bingo, cards and afternoon tea.

Alicia, Lucy and Alex, three of Chearsley’s lovely ladies, made a very worthwhile contribution for Comic Relief on Friday March 15 by raising nearly £300 by selling home-made cakes, and refreshments all day.
