Parish Council Meeting – May 28th. Nic Brown was re-elected chairman and John Lewis vice-chairman. Next meeting is scheduled for Monday June 17 at the village hall.

June at The Bell
– a busy month ahead starts with Anyone for Pimms? on Saturday June 8. The garden with its new tables is the best place to come and enjoy a lunchtime or evening drink - Pimms, wine, beer, soft drink, whatever you fancy and relax with family and friends. The garden is gated and safe for children. Saturday June 15 is the Queen’s official birthday and we are promised an appearance by Her Majesty, last seen in Chearsley in The Bell on Jubilee Day – a great photo opportunity. Sunday June 16 – Father’s Day – booking lunch to treat your Dad is a must. Places are going fast. Wimbledon Fortnight June 24 to July 6 – strawberries galore are on the menu – with cream, cheesecake, Eton mess, with ice-cream, scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream. Come and indulge yourself. Saturday June 29 – Fish and Chips feast – on The Green at the end of the village fete.

Vacancy for co-ordinator for oil buying in Chearsley – this established scheme for bulk buying of oil has been operating in Chearsley for a while and currently has 14 members who have benefited from an average saving of £38.40 when purchasing 1000litres. There is now a vacancy for the co-ordinator who each month has to send out deadline reminders to the members, receive orders and send off to the negotiators in Aylesbury. Baby congratulations – Toby and Karen Sampson of School Lane have become the proud parents to their first child.

Freddie Jason Sampson was born in the early hours of Sunday May 19 weighing 8lb 12oz. Freddie is the third grandson for Rachel and Gerry. Congratulations and all good wishes to all the family

Cafe cibo Haddenham - there is more encouraging news about Dom since he suffered a serious brain haemorrhage nearly a month ago. He has now been moved from the John Radcliffe to Stoke Mandeville into the Intensive care unit where he is still in a coma but breathing without the aid of a ventilator. Sylvi has thanked everyone for the overwhelming support she has received. Fundraising and donations for them have now reached nearly £4,000. Shack attack – Weekend of June 8 and 9 from 3pm Contact Sharon Sampson at Sharon@cloverdale.biz or ring 01844 208740 for more information and to join in this weekend in the grounds of Long Meadow, Dark Lane. Come down in the evening and join in the barbeque and bonfire and see what has been going on.

Nether Winchendon Fete will be held in the grounds of Nether Winchendon House on Saturday June 8 at 2pm

Bucks Open Studios – the fortnight when anyone can visit many studios free of charge throughout the county starts on Saturday June 8 until Sunday June 23. Over 500, more than ever before, artists and makers are exhibiting and displaying their work in many venues. Their website www.bucksopenstudios.org.uk gives more information, including a map of venues.

Open Farm Sunday June 9 - There is free entry to this event at Waddesdon Estate from 10.00am until 4.00pm. when there will be farm tours, a demonstration area of sheep shearing, farriery, forestry, pond dipping, an education hands on area and farm machinery on display. Lots to do for all the family. This is part of national Open Farm Sunday when farms all over the country open up so more can be discovered about how food is grown and what farms do to care for the countryside.
