Mobile Library   -  The library will next be in Chearsley  on September 9 at The Green from 12.20 until 12.45pm.  It would have been on Monday August 26 but as this is a Bank Holiday, this day’s visit is not scheduled.

Ann Veness Memorial Cricket Match on Bank Holiday Sunday August 25
Almost one year has passed since Ann died and a memorial match is being organised in her honour. This will be held at Chearsley Cricket Club with two teams made up of past and present Chearsley players.  It is hoped there will be a good crowd to enjoy the cricket and teas which will be available in the clubhouse. Any money raised from the teas and match fees will go to Florence Nightingale Hospice.

Monthly Lunches at The Bell  -  If you would like to join with a group of villagers who meet up every month  for a very reasonably priced 2 course lunch including tea and coffee, the next lunch will be on Wednesday August 28 at 12.30pm.   Please ring Ann Hooton on 208306 if you would like to come and let her know your choice from the menu. The menu is scampi and chips, cottage pie or lasagne. Pudding is fruit crumble, blueberry cheesecake, ice-cream or cheese and biscuits.

Free Holiday for older People on low incomes
A Break-away holiday to Skegness is being offered by a charity NBFA for people over 65 on a low income and who have not been away on holiday for 3 years or more. This free holiday for 5 days  is on October 28 to Skegness, by coach with pick up points at Buckingham, Milton Keynes and Bletchley and provides half board accommodation, transport and entertainment. Applicants must be able to climb aboard the coach unaided. Please contact Nisha Kotecha on 02078280200 for more information or view their website at nbfa.org.uk.  NBFA Assisting the Elderly is a charity dedicated to helping the elderly stay socially and physically active through means of pain relief machines, emergency home alarms, free holidays and subsidised day trips. Their aim is to ensure that the elderly who have become isolated, alone or unhappy are enable to reintegrate and conduce a more enjoyable lifestyle.

Keep Fit  - Summer holidays are drawing to a close and thoughts may turn to a new activity for Autumn.  A new course of Gentle Exercise for 50plus will start on Monday September 30 at Haddenham Youth Centre starting at 9.30 until 10.30am.
