Bingo at The Bell
February’s Bingo attracted a good number, keen to have a good evening and hoping for a win. The Snowball game which now stands at £130 remains to be won another month. So, well worth coming to try your luck in March. Chelsea, who works at The Bell as a waitress, stood in for Andy (WibbleWobble) and made a great team with Paul picking out the numbers. The Raffle made £33 towards the 3 New Bells Fund. The next Bingo session will be on Tuesday March 3 at 8.30pm.
Cuddington and Dinton School
Our local primary school has recently been placed 5th out of 214 Primary Schools in Bucks in the Department of Education Performance Tables for 2014. The figures are based on pupils’ progress and 100% was attained for reading, writing and maths. A letter of congratulations was sent by John Bercow to Kim Price, the school’s head teacher, which can be viewed on Cuddington village website here.
Captain Dave Thomas, who has lived in Chearsley for many years, has recently been interviewed by The Daily Mail about the truth behind most common flight myths. Dave, who is British Airway’s Head of Flight Technical and Training, said that” flying has always had a bit of mystique to it. A lot of these fears stem from a lack of knowledge”. He continues to explain about turbulence, different thunderstorms, the effect of the wind on the plane and how the pilots are trained to handle different weather related issues and situations. Dave’s explanations and a very nice photo of him can be found on the Daily Mail website here.
Parcel collection and delivery service at Chearsley Shop
An excellent and reasonably priced parcel service, MyHermes is on our doorstep. Suki and Jeyan at the shop are agents for this service which has daily collections and deliveries. There are simple to follow instructions on the MyHermes website detailing the cost and what to do. I recently had a large package to send to Cornwall weighing around 7kg and it cost just over £7 to send and took a couple of days to arrive, leaving the shop on the Saturday collection and arriving in Cornwall on the Monday. Easy and efficient. The paperwork is no trouble – the bar coded address label has to be printed off and 1 copy placed in the parcel and the other taped to the parcel. Parcels or packages can also be delivered to the shop for collection at your convenience if you cannot be at home to receive them. Give it a try. It is another way of using our vital shop.
