Vacancy for Clerk to Chearsley Parish Council
Chearsley Parish Council is seeking a highly motivated and conscientious person to be Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer from September 2016. The successful applicant will provide administrative support and advice to the Council. Duties include the compilation of agendas and minutes, dealing with correspondence and follow up actions from Parish Council meetings, payments of bills and preparation of monthly and annual accounts. The job requires a good knowledge of standard office IT packages and accounting systems and the successful applicant will have proven written and oral communication skills and be able to work to high standards. An essential part of the role is attendance at evening meetings generally once a month but on occasions, additional meetings.
Terms and conditions are in accordance with NJC for Local Government staff and a Local Government contributory pension scheme is offered. Salary :LC1 SCP 21 - 27 (circa £10.33 to £12.40 per hour) dependent on skills and experience and to be reviewed annually. Approximately 8 hours per week is required – to be discussed.

Holding a Certificate in Local Council Administration (CILCA) or being willing to work towards obtaining it is a pre-requisite for the role. Sky and Chearsley Cricket Club Girls
The recent filming by Sky Sports News of the Chearsley Cricket Club girls has been featured on a number of occasions as part of Sky’s rolling news broadcasts celebrating “Women’s Cricket Week” to promote the development of and to encourage girls of all ages and abilities to start playing cricket.

New Village Hall Fund
There is a little bit more in the new village hall fund, which has now received £44 to date from the AVDC lottery. Due to the growing success of this local weekly lottery which supports local good causes, the jackpot has been increased to £25,000 and 60p in every pound goes to the good causes. There will now be a Chearsley Challenge held on Saturday September 17 in place of the proposed Village Fun Run to be held at the Cricket Field. There will be more details available in due course.

Chearsley Classic and Vintage Fun Day Sunday September 11
There is no missing the large advertisement on The Green of the forthcoming Chearsley village event which will be held on the Cricket Club Grounds. The organisers are expecting over 150 vintage and classic vehicles to be on display at the show which is now in its fifth year. The Show has grown substantially since the first one and offers a good day out for everyone, including arts and crafts stalls, children’s games and mini funfair, live music, steam engines, refreshments, bar, bbq, and vintage bus trips. All this for free entry and the chance to view a flypast of a Spitfire and a Hurricane. Anyone who has a vintage or classic vehicle which they would like to show, or anyone who would like a pitch for auto jumble or for charity fundraising or anyone who would like to advertise in the programme are asked to apply by going to the show’s website at www.ccvfd.co.uk. All proceeds from the Show go towards funds for the thriving Junior Section of Chearsley Cricket Club.
