Ann Veness Memorial Match
The 4th annual Cricket match held in honour of Ann Veness was held on Sunday August 21 at the Cricket Club when 2 teams of 9 took part, captained by James Veness and former Chearsley player, C J Thompson. It was the closest fought of the memorial matches so far with James’ team triumphing by just 8 runs in a 30 over a side game. On the batting front, Alex Hubert top scored with 78 and was named Man of the Match. Tom Gadsby and Nick Grimsdell both made 50. Duncan Fielding was most successful bowler with 2 for 16 and special mention should be made of Timmy (Jonty) Morbey’s fielding which included a direct hit run out.
Richard Veness appreciated all the support by everyone who played or came up to watch this Memorial match in memory of his wife,Ann with particular thanks to the cake providers, umpires Bob Walker and Pete Redfern, scorer Terry Gadsby who also helped Adam Lazaruk with the post game BBQ. What could the new village hall be used for?

Table tennis is a popular request, as well as daytime yoga and pilates classes, youth club and activities for children and movie nights. The committee would welcome any more suggestions.
