Calendar Launch
There are several ideas being considered for raising money to build the new village hall. One of these, now in the process of being developed is a Calendar of Chearsley Boys in various poses and settings around the village. Many will remember the very successful calendar of Chearsley girls a number of years ago, which raised a considerable amount of money for the Fete. Maybe this one will be as equally successful. A launch of the eagerly awaited Calendar is planned for Saturday October 15 in The Bell from 6.30pm when the calendars will be available for purchase at £10 each.

Chearsley Show
Brochures giving details of all possible exhibits at this annual Show in the village hall on Saturday September 3 have now been delivered to all houses in the village. Our annual show is a very friendly, small, low-key village show (with only a tiny amount of rivalry and competition) and with the emphasis of fun and taking part, so please have a good look through the schedule and try to find something to enter and come along to join in. It is a lovely village afternoon for everyone. If you have lost your entry form, please contact Joy Payne on 01844 208513.
New this year in the flower section is an entry for 3 stems of a flowering shrub and 3 stems of chrysanthemums. The theme for the flower arrangement is to celebrate the 90th birthday of Her Majesty The Queen. There are classes for children including fairy cakes, photographs, garden on a plate and a decorated hard- boiled egg, a new class which proved very popular last year, all with the incentive of winning a small cash prize and even a new Toddler time category with sweets as a prize.
Entries have to be submitted by Wednesday August 31 to Joy Payne, the Show’s President, to enable all the necessary paper work to be completed in time for Saturday.
I am not a cake maker or art and craft person, but love my garden and try to find some flowers or vegetables to enter, which is a case of going round the garden on the entry deadline day to see what might be available. I might, a few days before, try to put a ban on the family picking the runner beans or courgettes for that night’s meal so that there is a chance of having some suitable ones ready for the Show.

Chearsley Village Classic & Vintage Fun Day

Entries are still being accepted for classic and vintage vehicles at this 5th year of the Show which is being held in the Cricket Club grounds on Sunday September 11. Please log on to www.ccvfd.co.uk for more details. This promises to be another great free family day out on our doorstep with the added attractions of a Spitfire and a Hurricane flypast during the afternoon.

Sunshine Club Charity Fashion Show
The Sunshine Club will be hosting another popular Charity Fashion Show in the gardens of Tyringham Hall on Sunday August 28 at 2pm. Affordably priced clothing which may be bought afterwards will be modelled by local girls of all ages and maybe even a brave male. The ticket price of £5 includes a cream tea and this fun afternoon takes place whatever the weather, under gazebos if wet. Everyone is welcome to come, men included, to help raise money so that the long established Sunshine Club may continue. Please phone Liz on 01844 299150 for tickets.

Free Taster Lesson in Lip Reading and Managing Hearing Loss
If you are one of the 1 in 6 people in the UK with a hearing loss or struggle to hear in noisy situations, you might have thought about joining a lip reading class. Free one-hour tasters are being offered during Lip reading Awareness Week September 12 to 16. Even good hearing aids don’t restore perfect hearing.
Learning to lip read is a skill which can improve how much you understand when people speak to you. Classes are small and friendly and also provide information on coping strategies and assistive equipment. A class is being held at Haddenham Medical Centre on Thursday September 15 at 11am, as well as others throughout Bucks. Please contact judy.lipreading@gmail.com or ring 07837 993923 for more information.

Refuse Collections: Wednesday August 10 The recycling blue lidded refuse bins and food bins will be collected.
