Village News

with Margaret Morbey

Buckinghamshire Historic Churches Trust
John and Jenny Scholefield have again taken to their bikes to raise money for this Trust which helps maintain our church and other churches in Bucks. It was unfortunate that their ride took place in the rain on Saturday September 10, but they managed to complete over 17 miles and visited 15 churches. “wet to the skin and slightly less perky than when we started”. Well done to both of them. They would like to thank those who have already sponsored them and ask that donations can still be made by going to www.justgiving.com/fundraising/johnandjennyscholefield.

Chearsley Show

Chearsley Challenge Saturday September 10
Despite the non-stop rain about 20 families turned up to the cricket club on Saturday afternoon to take part in the Chearsley Challenge obstacle course, in support of the Village Hall. Participants were led through an energetic warm up by “Sheepy” Johnson, then started the course in 3’s representing age groups of under 5’s, 5-10, 10-15 and adults. The course involved stepping through tyres, jumping over horse jumps, scoring goals, running with wheelbarrows, climbing over hay bales and ending with a very muddy crawl under a camouflage net – all without dropping the apple that they collected along the way!
All winners were presented with a certificate and everyone is applauded for taking part, especially on such a miserable day. But great fun was had by all and the event raised £200 for the Village Hall rebuild. Organisers are hoping to make this an annual event! Special thanks go to the Cricket Club for use of their grounds and opening the bar for much needed refreshment!

Chearsley Classic & Vintage Fun Day
The organisers of this recent event would like to thank everyone who supported or visited the show. At its peak there were nearly 200 vehicles displayed contributing to a wonderful day which raised over £5,000 for the funds of the Junior Cricket academy at Chearsley Cricket Club. The committee look forward to welcoming everyone again next year on Sunday September 10. Details of when registration is open will be announced at the start of next year. Photos of the day including some drone footage can be found at http://www.cricketatchearsley.co.uk or www.facebook.com/chearsleyClassicFunDay.

Amelia, aged 6 now has a baby brother to help look after. Love and congratulations to everyone.
