Reminder to ‘leave a light on’

Thames Valley Alert:
This is a message sent via Thames Valley Alert and has been sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police.

This weekend, many Aylesbury Vale residents will be going out with their families and friends to fireworks displays or bonfire parties.

If you are going out in the evening, for whatever reason, just take a moment to review your home security:-
  •  You may have driven along residential roads in your area and thought to yourself how easy it is to tell who is out by the fact that their home is in total darkness – opportunist criminals may be thinking the same thing!
  • Before you leave make sure your doors and windows are properly secured and double locked. Leave lights on to give the appearance of someone being home and set your alarm if you have one.
  • If you see anyone acting suspiciously report them to the police on the 24 hour Police Enquiry Centre number 101. If you think a crime is happening at that time dial on 999. Try to see what they look like, clothing description etc and details of any vehicle they may be using, especially the registration number.
Enjoy your night out, whatever you are doing, but make sure you don’t give criminals the opportunity to ruin the fun.
