Chearsley Cricket Club Sunday August 12
The annual Chairman’s Match originally planned for July 29 and re-arranged for last Sunday was again called off. The rain on Saturday July 28 also spoiled party celebrations of Rachel Sampson who was celebrating a “special” birthday and had to transfer everything to the village hall. The party, I hear, was still a great success. Congratulations Rachel and here’s to many more.
Annual End of Season Dinner and Dance Saturday November 24.
Please save this date for the Cricket Club Do which will be held at Magnolia Park Hotel, Golf and Country Club.

Saturday September 1: Chearsley Show After a year’s break while the new hall was built ,Chearsley Show now returns with more categories this year, including a Scarecrow Parade in the village hall grounds. Vegetables and flowers have suffered from lack of rain and relentless searing sun, but don’t be put off and think you have nothing to enter. Just have a look round your garden and allotment to find something to enter. You may be surprised to find a winning ticket on your exhibit. There are also categories for domestic, art and craft and photography, and lots of opportunities for the children to take part. Making a scarecrow is a new idea to our Show, with a chance for all the family to get creative and have fun. There will be a prize awarded for the most creative scarecrow. Please return your completed entry forms by Wednesday August 29 with fees of 20p per item to Joy at 1 Bernard's Close. On the day, the hall will be open for the setting out of entries from 8.30 to 10.15am. Judging takes place at 10.30am. The hall is then open to the public at 2.45pm with teas on sale, raffle draw and presentation of awards at 3.30pm.

There will be a bar and raffle. Tickets are available at £10 each from Joy Payne, phone 208513 or email joychearsley@gmail.com.
