‘Historic Chearsley’ – A Date for your Diary!

Following a number of informal discussions, a small group of Chearsley residents got together during January to discuss the possibility of starting a project, which would build on the work of Ted Hooton’s wonderful book, “Chearsley – Living Through History” and bring the story up to the present day.

As a result of this meeting, the Village Hall has been booked for Sunday June 2nd where we hope to share with the village a number of fascinating resources, many of which most of you will not have seen before.  We would also ask you to share anything that you feel might be of interest, which would add to our understanding of the story of Chearsley, however long ago or more recent.   For example, photos, family memorabilia or reminiscences.  We are hoping to set up a small exhibition along the lines of the recent, successful Centenary of World War 1 Exhibition, so there is room for all to make a contribution, however small!

We are also delighted to announce that, following Ann Hooton’s kind permission, Keith Turnbull has sponsored the production of a digital version of Ted’s book and this can now be downloaded at the following link:
Chearsley - Living Through History

It is a large file (125MB), so you may need to be patient.

If you have anything that would contribute to our exhibition, we would be delighted to receive it, or if you would be interested in joining our group at its future meetings, please contact any of the following:
….and don’t forget to put Sunday 2nd June in your diaries to celebrate the launch of ‘Historic Chearsley’.
