If your current broadband speed doesn't meet your needs you can do something about it today by visiting www.superfastforbucks.org and backing your local county council's campaign to bring superfast broadband to Buckinghamshire.
These days it’s not uncommon for households to have more than one way of accessing the internet – be it through a computer, tablet, smartphone or games console. But standard broadband cannot always cope with the requirements placed on it by modern families, who like to use the internet to do a variety of things – from watching catch up TV, streaming films, uploading photos, or enjoying online gaming.
With superfast broadband, multiple devices can be online at any one time and still enjoy high speed connectivity.
Unfortunately from town to town and even street to street, internet connection speeds vary significantly across Buckinghamshire. Buckinghamshire County Council and Buckinghamshire Business First have secured government funding to improve access in areas which currently have no broadband access or suffer very slow speeds.
Registering your demand for superfast broadband will only take a couple of minutes and won’t cost a penny. You’re simply helping Buckinghamshire County Council and Buckinghamshire Business First demonstrate to broadband providers that there is a strong demand for superfast connectivity here in the county. New bins: changes to AVDC's refuse and recycling services
From September, AVDC will be collecting your refuse and recycling in a different way. Residents will receive their new recycling bins and an information pack during July and August.
What will the new collection system be like? AVDC will be collecting more items for recycling so you'll get a new recycling bin, food waste bins and the collection dates may change.
Recycling bin - Households will receive a large 240-litre recycling wheeled bin (with a blue hinged lid). You will use this for all paper, glass, cardboard, plastics, cartons, cans and tins, mixed together so you won’t have to separate them.
Recycling collections will continue to be made every fortnight.
Food waste bins - Households will receive two food waste bins; a small silver kitchen caddy and a small outdoor green food waste bin, both with tightly fitting lids. You use the kitchen caddy for food scraps and when full, place in the green outdoor food bin.
The green food waste bin will be collected weekly.
Refuse bin - the rest of your waste, everything that is not recyclable, goes in your existing green wheeled bin. This will be collected fortnightly on alternate weeks with the new recycling bin.
Note - When AVDC start the new collections, they will only be be able to collect rubbish that fits in the bin, with the bin lid closed. They will no longer collect extra bags of rubbish left next to the bin, please take to the tip instead.
Finally, householders should look out for a new letter from AVDC in mid August, with any updates on the new service and what to do with your old baskets/boxes.

Betty Ifftner
Betty Ifftner, who lived in Shupps Lane until going into a care home a short while ago, has sadly died. She was in her 80s and lived in Chearsley for quite a few years. Her funeral will be held at St Nicholas Church on Tuesday 17th at 12noon.

Gates are open at 12.00pm with the first of 6 ferret race starting at 1.30pm. There will be on course betting facilities. The bar will be open from 12, serving real ales. Perhaps by then the sun will be shining and it will be a great day to enjoy the barbeque, bouncy castle for the children and an opportunity to meet and stroke the ferrets, and maybe back the winning ferret.
