Sad News about Beno Howlett, who died on Thursday November 22 at home with his family in Thame. Beno had been suffering from pancreatic cancer for several months. Beno had been married to Emma, daughter of Maria Allen, for 6 years and she had been nursing him at home. His funeral will be held at Oxford Crematorium, St John’s Chapel, on Friday December 7 at 11am.

Switching on the Lights
The tree is already in place on The Green, in good time for Saturday December 8 when the lights will be switched on at 5pm. The Bell will be open for mulled wine and drinks and free mince pies. Carols will be sung round the tree, raising funds for the charities, Debra and Cystic Fibrosis which provide funding for research into chronic conditions which affect the lives of two of our young people in Chearsley. Everyone is welcome to come and join this Village occasion.

The Not Forgotten Association
Joy Payne would like to thank everyone who generously contributed to collections made at the village hall after the War Memorial Service on November ll and at the recent film and talk evening on World War I. Joy was delighted to be able to send £357 to The Not Forgotten Association, a charity which provides opportunities for leisure, recreational activities, travel, holidays and outings for those in the Armed Forces who have proudly served their country and are now suffering.

Appeal for New Governors for Cuddington and Dinton C of E School
Our School has a steady turnover of governors as a result of terms of office finishing, parents moving on and staff leaving, which means that nominations for new Governors are frequently being sought. The Board of Governors is especially keen to have parishioners join them who do not necessarily already have a direct link with the school e.g. are not current parents or members of staff . Please contact Mrs Kim Price, the Headteacher on 01844 291206 if you would like more information about the important and rewarding role of a School Governor, or contact Giles Ecott, Chairman of Governors, at gecott@yahool.co.uk.
