Car Crime Continues
Officers from the Waddesdon Neighbourhood Policing Team are urging local residents to be vigilant following a number of thefts from vehicles reported recently in the area.
Overnight on Sunday 13 to Monday 14 January vehicles were targeted in Nether Winchendon and Ashendon. Two thefts were reported in Upper Pollicott, Ashendon and three in Nether Winchendon. Property stolen included iPods, sat nav systems, small change and keys.
All the vehicles had been left unlocked
Please make sure you lock your vehicle when it is unattended and remove any valuables from it. Do not be tempted to ‘hide’ items in the boot or glovebox etc – opportunist thieves know all the hiding places.
Make sure you report anyone acting suspiciously around parked vehicles IMMEDIATELY to the Police. If you can, get a description of them, along with details of any vehicle they may be using, especially the registration number. Don’t leave it to someone else to make the call – you might be the only witness.
If you have any information in relation to any of these thefts please call the 24 hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101 and ask for the information to be passed on to PC Spenceley or PCSO Sue Jones from the Waddesdon Neighbourhood Policing Team.
If you don’t want to speak to the Police or give your details you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Jubilee Oak
The Jubilee Oak has now been well secured thanks to the donation of a stake and help on the day from Justin and Alicia at The Old Farmhouse and to Mike Heybrook who supplied further stakes.
Bingo
The first Bingo session of the year was a quieter evening than usual as several regulars were very much missed and we look forward to seeing them again at February’s Bingo. Paul Kingsman had to manage the calling on his own, as Andy Camden (88 wibble wobble) was unable to be there. Despite having a bit of difficulty controlling the bingo balls from time to time, Paul conducted the evening in typical fine form. Everyone, including some new to Bingo, managed to have a good evening, with a top prize of £55 and the raffle making £28 for the charity pot. Next Bingo will be on Tuesday February 5th. If you haven’t been before, come and try it out – guaranteed an unforgettable evening!? Book your table for a Bingo meal beforehand.
Parish Council Meeting
The date of the next meeting is not Monday 14th. It will now be held on Monday January 21st at 7.30pm at the village hall. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Jubilee Oak
Chearsley Parish Council is one of 80 Councils throughout Bucks to take advantage of AVDC’s offer of a free English oak tree to create a tribute to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee. Chearsley’s tree was planted on The Green on Sunday December 16 by Nic Brown, chairman of Chearsley Parish Council, with the help of a few villagers, particularly Venetia, supplying spades, water, stakes and general comments and advice. It is hoped that the tree will survive for many generations to enjoy to remember the the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. See here for a photo of the occasion.
Carol Singing
£400 has been collected this Christmas by one night’s carol singing round the village and at the Carols Round the Tree. This amount will be divided between the charities Cystic Fibrosis and DebRA.
Parish Council Meeting
The next meeting is planned to take place at the Village Hall on Monday14th 21st at 7.30pm. Please check the notice board for confirmation of this date and for a copy of the Minutes of the last meeting and of the agenda. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Old unwanted Christmas Cards
Thank you to everyone who supported my son, Andrew, (Podge) in buying some of the Christmas gift tags we made this year , with particular thanks to Sharon at The Bell for being so pro-active in selling them. We need some more old cards for next Christmas’s supply and would happily collect a bag from anyone who would like to donate them to us. Please email margmorb@mail.com or phone 208913 if you can help us.

Local Burglaries
We are constantly having reports of break-ins in our area which serve as reminders to always keep our homes secure as much as possible. There was a burglary this week in Long Crendon, and I have experienced a couple of “creepy” experiences in Chearsley – a shadowy figure darting out of a garden to run off down the road into the village and during early evening a couple of occasions when I felt someone was in the garden. I don’t consider that I have a nervous disposition, but it has made me remember to always keep the doors locked even when I am in the house. We should all do the same at all times.
