Chearsley Church
There will be services for Easter as follows :
Good Friday 21st March - service at 10.30 a.m.
Easter Day 23rd March – Communion at 9.00 a.m.
Easter Garden Service at 11.00 a.m.
The Garden Service will be the last service taken by Revd Roger Jackson in Chearsley, before he leaves for Clevedon, Somerset. All are welcome to come and fill the Church to say goodbye to Roger and his family and to wish them well in the future. In St. Mary’s, Long Crendon on April 6th, our three parishes will be saying farewell at Roger Jackson’s last service in the Benefice.
Until the process of a new vicar being appointed is completed, hopefully by early 2009, there will be Father Arthur Taylor and John Scholefield, to take services.
Church Decorating for Easter
Donations of flowers and foliage are welcome. Also, any help in the Church on March 22nd at 10 a.m.
Chearsley Parish Council
Some points from the meeting held on Monday 10th March:
A minute’s silence was held in remembrance of John Miles who had been the Clerk to the Parish Council for several years – a post he undertook with his usual great sense of humour.
The question of provision for parking in the village particularly in School Lane was raised by a member of the public, and it was agreed that this would be a topic to be discussed at the annual Parish Meeting to be held on April 7th. It was also suggested that the Police should be invited to attend to talk about how they can help with the speeding problem.
The next edition of the Newsletter would soon be ready and delivered round the village and would include details of the Parish Meeting and topics to be discussed, which would include speeding, kerbing, car parking and the shop.
Planning applications re the carport at Bees Cottage, Crendon Road and an extension at 7 Old Plough Close were discussed and decided that the Council had no objections.
Tug of War with Cuddington: As yet, no date had been fixed for this to take place and it was suggested that Cuddington had possibly lost interest and heart. The matter would be pursued.
Poor state of roads out of Chearsley: It was decided that a letter should be written to Bucks County Council re the deteriorating condition of all roads out of Chearsley and also enquiring whether the Churchill lorries were keeping to their correct route, as it was noted that there were many coming through the village on a daily basis, and adding to the wear and tear and potholes, particularly down the Aylesbury Road.
Traffic congestion on the Winchendon Road outside the village hall caused by Chuf parents at delivery and collection times was a problem. A letter asking for help with this to be sent to Chuf.
The next meeting will be at the Parish Meeting on Monday 7th April
Race for Life
This sponsored walk on Sunday, 11th May will be a village event to raise money in memory of Jackie Brown. There will be a barbeque –more details nearer the time, and a pink tombola. Any pink items you would like to donate for this would be gratefully received. Please let me know, or hand them into The Bell. Anyone who would like to sponsor me on this 5km walk (I’m not in to running), please contact me.
