Village News

with Margaret Morbey

W.I. Cake and coffee morning
This fund raising event on July 30th raised £250 for Learn as One - a charity funding the building of a school in Zambia.

Across – church magazine for Long Crendon, Chearsley and Nether Winchendon
Anne Burnett of Dark Lane, is a new contributor to our Church magazine and would welcome any news which you may like to have included in the monthly magazine, or if you are considering placing a regular advert in the magazine which is widely circulated in the three villages. Please contact her on 201358 or email anne.burnett5@btinternet.com. Perhaps we can expect some recipes or cooking tips from Anne once she has had time to get used to her brand new Aga, which she cleverly won in a recent magazine (not Across) competition.

Ruby Wedding Congratulations
John and Maggie Cragg of Shupps Lane recently celebrated 40 years of marriage, and enjoyed celebrating with family and friends from home and abroad. Congratulations to you both.

Refuse and recycling collection
Tuesday, August 25th is the next collection date for all our recycling items – bottles, plastics and cans and paper, as well as bins. Please remember that, the following week, because of the August Bank Holiday, the bins (only) will be collected on Wednesday, September 2nd.

The Bell
Please remember that our village pub is open all day at the weekends this month. Please see their notice board for any special events they are planning, particularly a barbeque on the evening of Bank Holiday Sunday, 30th August. The sun might shine.
