Next Planning Forum Meeting

A reminder that the next meeting of the Planning Forum is this coming Wednesday 29 February, 7.30pm for a prompt start at 7.45.

It has not been possible to get a guest speaker as hoped, although I do have someone lined up for the following meeting.  There is however plenty do to on Wednesday – make sure you come along and don’t miss the fun.

A copy of the latest plan can be downloaded here.

Queen's Jubilee Celebrations

A final call to see what interest there may be for getting the village folks of Chearsley together to celebrate during this historic time
The Bell, Tuesday 13th March at 7.30pm

The quiet consensus seems to favour a Jubilee Celebration on Bank Holiday Monday, 4th June, with a theme as follows:

Daytime arrangements
Picnic on the green from 3pm until approx 5pm for all villagers and friends with the make up of the picnic down to the individuals and families – a bring and share - but I would imagine with an emphasis on sandwiches, cakes, savouries etc. and then some entertainment of a light musical nature plus some games for the younger ones.

A competition to be arranged encouraging the young ones to dress up as Kings, Queens , Knights of the Realm etc., with a prize of four tickets to LegoLand to the winning boy and girl

Coordinators are required for this and also the support of the shop and pub for the purchase of other services and goods.

Evening arrangements
Dancing and hog roast (or alternative food) around the green pub garden area around 7.30pm start for the adults possibly also carrying on the theme of the afternoon of the Monarchy or alternatively just very casual (it would also be great to consider the younger adults/teenagers who may prefer a separate area/marquee for some music and appropriate drinks for at least some of the evening)

Coordinators are required for this and in particular the agreement/support of the village pub.

This your chance to get involved and support what I think could be a smashing day for all, so come along to The Bell on Tuesday the 13th March at 7.30pm and share your thoughts, as the above is just a stab at it and I am sure there are many more ideas that could work.

Planning Forum Meeting
If you would like to be involved in the development of The village plan for Chearsley, please come to the meeting on Wednesday February 29 in the Village Hall at 7.30pm. It is hoped that there will be a speaker with experience of creating a Parish Plan who will be able to give some guidance in putting the plan together. More volunteers are needed for various roles. It will be better to have a large number of people contributing a little of their time and effort, rather than a small number contributing a large amount. So, please come on Monday February 29.

Cricket Club Quiz
There are still tickets and tables available for this Quiz on Friday February 24 at the village hall. It will be a fun evening with questions set by Larry Warr, fish and chip supper and bar. Tickets are £10 per person. Please contact Sonia at soniat@fsmail.net to buy your ticket.

Six Nations Rugby at Cricket Club
The match between England and Wales will be shown at Chearsley Cricket Club on Saturday February 25 at 3pm. The bar will be open 1 hour before and again at half time when food will be served. The match between Scotland and France will be shown on Sunday February 26 at 2.00pm. Please contact John Howard on 07970651326 or email jnh@dbmc.co.uk. Further matches will be shown on the weekend of March 10 and 11.

Mobile Library
This will next be in the village on Monday February 27 from 12.20 until 12.45pm.

Doorstep Bags for recycling clothes for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research
I have been sent information from a representative of the charity Beating Blood Cancers which verifies the partnership between E.L.T. (East London Textiles Ltd) and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Since January this year, ELT, a well established UK textile recycling company, has pledged to donate at least £60,000 each year to the charity for research into blood cancers.

Recycling
All recycling baskets including boxes for glass will next be collected on Tuesday March 6.

Bingo at The Bell

The regular monthly sessions of Bingo continue to be popular and good fun with the now expert and experienced bingo callers, Paul and Andy. The next one will be held on Tuesday March 6. starting at about 8.30pm. The Bell offer a special price for a meal for Bingo players. Come early or book your meal with Ollie and Sharon.

Planning Forum Meeting
The second meeting of the Planning Forum held on Monday evening was attended by 18 people with apologies received on behalf of a further 10. Despite the slightly disappointing attendance, it was a productive evening with lots of lively discussion and some significant decisions made. A start was also made on deciding who would like to do what in terms of the various tasks although more people are still needed to become involved. A very positive start – the Chearsley Village Plan effort is well and truly on the road. More detailed output will be distributed shortly, but in the meantime, please make a note that the third meeting has been tentatively made for Wednesday February 29 at 7.30 for a prompt 7.45 start. The plan is to arrange a guest speaker if possible. More details will be made available nearer the time.

Recycling
Baskets for paper, cans and plastics will next be collected on Tuesday February 21.

Chearsley W.I.
The next meeting in the village hall will be on Tuesday February 21 when Ruth Humphries will talk on Kinder Transport in 1939. All visitors are welcome to come at 2.30 (after the official business of the W.I.) for a cost of £2.50.

Bucks Herald photo
How many saw an excellent photo of our Parish Council’s vice chairman in the Business Section of the Bucks Herald? Leif Hytten is managing director of a solar energy firm in Aylesbury, which has just completed its biggest export order to date worth £430,000 to a global company. Congratulations Leif – so you really do work hard!

Garden Waste scheme
The free collection of green sacks for garden rubbish on dustbin day is coming to an end in September this year. This is being replaced by the provision of brown bins which will be collected fortnightly. The service will be launched in stages over the coming months before being rolled out to the rest of the Vale later this year. It is planned that Chearsley, as well as Cuddington, Long Crendon, Ickford and Shabbington will have collections start in late June. To be included on the first collection day, you must sign up by May 22. Once your details have been processed and payment of £36 received, an information pack and brown bin will be delivered. Queries or comments, please call 01296 585510 or email gardenwaste@aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk. Further details can be found on the website www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk/gardenwaste.

Chearsley Cricket Club quiz

The Club are holding a quiz on Friday February 24 at 7.00 for 7.30pm start in the village hall. Teams of 8 at a cost of per £10 per person. A fish and chip supper is included in the price of the ticket. There will be a bar. Please contact Sonia at soniat@fsmail.net to book your place.

Parish Council meeting
Dates for the Parish council meetings have been changed. The next one will be on Monday February 20 in the village hall at 7.30pm. All villagers are welcome to attend.

Village shop
The shop is now able to offer card facility for payment of goods.

Village Pub lunch
This will next be held at The Bell on Wednesday February 22 at 12.30. Please phone Ann Hooton on 208306 or Alan Mitchener on 208893 to book your place and choose your meal.

Watch Rugby at Chearsley Cricket Club
The Cricket Club will again be showing all England matches and some of the other “tastier” ones of the IRB Rugby Six Nations during February and March at the Cricket Pavilion. The bar will be open, food will be available and a sweepstake will be run. Please phone John Howard on 208036 for more information.

Mobile Library
This will next be in Chearsley on Monday February 13 from 12.20 until 12.45pm.

Clothing bags for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research

Bags were recently distributed throughout Chearsley asking for donations of clothing, shoes, toys, etc. I have been contacted by a resident concerned that these were not from a bona fide charity. Has anyone any knowledge about the registered charity Beating Blood cancers, whose name was on the bags? Cancer Research say that they never put bags round for collection. I understand that the bags put round by the Salvation Army are the only ones where all the profit made goes to their cause.

Diamond Anniversary
Congratulations to Jock and Mary Scholefield of Chilton Road who have celebrated their 60th Wedding anniversary this week.

Cyndy Whiffen
St Nicholas Church Chearsley was overflowing on Thursday February 3 for Cyndy’s funeral and her burial in the churchyard. Tributes bravely delivered by Cyndy’s two sons and the address by John Wynburne revealed what an intelligent, musically talented and sporty lady Cyndy was, having had a highly respected and successful career , and always having great pride in the musical and sporting success of her children. She was greatly involved with Aylesbury Choral Society who were there to sing at her funeral. Her many friends from W.I. and the village will miss her. Love and condolences go to her family.

Chearsley Planning Forum

The 2nd meeting of the Chearsley Planning Forum will be held in the Village Hall on Monday 6 February at 7.30pm.

Those of you that attended the first meeting in November will recall that we agreed to get through four pieces of planning activity in order to ensure that the people of our village have a say in the way things develop here.

These were:
  1. Decide if we want to be an A, B, C or D type village.  The meeting suggested, and the Parish Council agreed, that ‘C’ is for us, and we told AVDC that in December.  Done.
  2. Answer some follow-up questions posed by AVDC.  We carried out the survey in December to get answers to those questions and the results were sent to AVDC after the January PC meeting.  Done.
  3. Develop a Parish Plan.  We agreed to do that during 2012.  That’s the bit we need to start now.
  4. Develop a Neighbourhood Plan – perhaps.  That’s for the future
So – we agreed to have a Parish (or Village) Plan.  The question now is what do we want it to look like and how are we going to get it organised.  That’s what I would like discuss on Monday.

The survey questions and results give us a bit of a starting point, and there are various other sources that could provide examples of plans from elsewhere.  But I suspect that we will be able between us to decide for ourselves what we want to see in the Chearsley Village Plan and suggest that to start with at least we see what ideas we have of our own.  It’s our Plan, and we can put in it whatever we think is right for our village.

I am sending this to all those who signed up at the first meeting as willing to contribute to the Planning Forum.  Please make every effort to come to this meeting, and please try also to think in advance and come prepared with ideas on what you think could or should be in the plan.  No idea too trivial, too big or too way-out at this stage.

I am also sending it to those that completed the survey but are not signed up for the Forum, on the basis that you also might be interested in contributing to this effort even though you missed the first meeting.

Finally, if any of you have a lap-top that you could bring along and would be willing to help capture information on the night that could well be very useful.

I look forward to seeing you all for an evening of lively discussion.
