Refuse Bin Update

from Aylesbury Vale District Council

A short update for you after the first day of the new collections.

They seemed to go very smoothly today, with only a handful of properties putting out the wrong bins. No other issues were reported. Food waste collection seemed to be very well received and the hoppers were full when vehicles returned to the depot.

Bin deliveries
Whilst we are aware that there’s a few households awaiting delivery of their new bins, we’re tackling this as a priority. Our contractor is sending out a ‘mop up’ team to customers that have been missed off early rounds, and we also have two of our own teams out and about to properties that have been missed. The Buckingham and Winslow blue lid bin trial areas should get their food waste bins delivered tomorrow. We apologise for any delays some people have experienced

If a resident hasn’t had their bins delivered yet, and asks, our advice is:
  • Please put food waste in your green waste bin, as normal.
  • If their first collection is for waste, the service is as normal, though the collection day may have changed
  • If their first collection this week is for recycling, they can get AVDC blue recycling bags from our Customer Service Centres in Aylesbury, Winslow (Library) and The Buckingham Centre.
Alternatively, they can put recycling materials in open carrier bags, and leave out for collection. If the carrier bags are closed, we won't be able to collect them as we can't see what's in them.

Alternatively, please direct them to our website www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk/refuse-and-recycling/
