Village wedding of Emma and Stephen
The sun shone on Saturday May 5 for the marriage of Emma Whitlock and Stephen Howlett (Beno) in St Nicholas Church. Emma, who now lives in Thame, has been a Chearsley girl since she moved here with her mother Maria, and Peter Allen, when she was 6. Emma, a beautiful bride, was driven to the Church with Peter who gave her away, by villager Fred in his classic Morris Minor to a church full of flowers and three charming bridesmaids - one celebrating her birthday that day. It was attended by many villagers and then on to a sumptuous wedding reception at the village hall, which had been transformed amazingly with gauze and voile in colours to match the bridesmaid’s dresses by Joy Payne, village florist, who had also decorated the Church and Ruth Holland, village seamstress, who had also made one of the bridesmaid’s dresses. Splendid food by Tony and Ann Sherwin and family of Long Crendon. Dancing in the marquee. A lovely day and a lovely village affair. Congratulations Emma and Beno. We wish you love and happiness together.

Long Crendon Community Library

Support is needed for Long Crendon Community Library, which offers the full range of services found in a County Library. Bucks county Council is providing a grant for the first five years, but the Community Library must make up the shortfall and become self funding. In order for it to remain open and deliver a quality service, the library must raise funds through community events, grants and donations to finance running costs, purchase new stock and maintain the premises. If you would like to become a volunteer or assist in any way, please call in to the Library and fill out a form, or email longcrendonlibrary@hotmail.co.uk , or visit their website here.

Mobile Library
Chearsley is still lucky enough to have a mobile service which will next be in the village on May 21 from 12.20 until 12.45pm.

Cuddington Youth Drama
Cuddington Youth Drama present Disney’s The AristoCats Kids at The Bernard Hall, Cuddington on Tuesday June 5 until Saturday June 9. Performances start at 7pm with a Saturday June 9 matinee at 2.30pm. Tickets cost £8 for adults, children and concessions £6. Running time of 75 minutes. Please contact the Box Office on 01296 747129 or email boxoffice@cuddingtonyouthdrama.org.uk for tickets or more information.

Parking at Haddenham Railway Station
A warning to make sure you buy and display a valid car parking ticket when you travel from Haddenham and Thame Railway Station. A Chearsley resident has recently been fined £100 for failing to display a car park ticket, although one had been purchased. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to either purchase one from the ticket office or machine and display it on the car windscreen. (See also this article.)

Old magazines and brochures
My lovely daughter (with my lovely Grandson, now aged 9 months) in Barcelona has asked me to keep old magazines, catalogues and brochures for her card making. Help in collecting these would be much appreciated. Any unwanted magazines or old cards can be left at my house. Please visit jennymorbeymakes in the shops category on the website www.etsy.com to view her cards and gifts.
