Village News from Margaret Morbey
The Bell Charity Bottle
Saturday Evening on February 16th at The Bell is the place to be to find out much has been collected over the past year in the Charity Bottle. You may remember that in December 2006, the charity bottle was stolen off the bar. Since then, the replacement bottle has been getting fuller, and Ollie and Sharon are delighted to have been able to arrange for local celebrity, Mark Webber, who is a Formula 1 driver for Red Bull Racing to be there on the night at 7.15 to oversee the proceedings. He is generously providing signed merchandise which will be auctioned on the night to augment the collection. The bottle opening is being covered by The Bucks Herald and local TV. There will be a buffet and competitions in order to raise as much money as possible for the Special Care Baby Unit at Stoke Mandeville hospital. Come along for a very worthwhile village occasion.
Parish Council Meeting
A few matters arising from the Parish Council Meeting on Monday 14th:
Shop
Although nothing tangible had developed, Nic Brown reported that it was very much in his and a lot of people’s minds and the subject of many discussions and still much wanted and needed in Chearsley. The Enforcement Officer from Aylesbury Vale has been asked to visit the premises again, to ensure that the shop part is not being used as part of the domestic facilities, as change of use has not been applied for.
Planning Applications:
Bungalow in Crendon Road: This application has been withdrawn and it is understood a new one will be submitted.Willow Gate: An application for a double garage has been made and a site meeting will be held by the Council together with any neighbours affected by the proposed development.
Clay Pigeon Shoot, College Farm, Long Crendon:
Concerns over the noise created by the Shooting have been raised by a resident in Chearsley, and it was decided to write a letter to Long Crendon Parish Council to this effect.
Kerbing
An application for further kerbing in Chearsley has to be resubmitted.
Closure of Shupps Lane
It was reported that the Council had been informed that due to electrical works in Shupps Lane, this road would be closed for up to 3 weeks from 4th February. Concerns were raised that the works should not continue after this date and to ask Bucks Highways to supervise.
Demolition of trees in Church Lane.
The reasoning behind the cutting down of many various trees in the hedgerow was not known and Nic Brown agreed to approach Mike Heybrook, as owner of the field to find out more.
Inconsiderate Parking
A letter concerning this had been received, particularly in Watts Green and the point made that the roads should not be blocked to prevent emergency vehicles access, and to ask that this subject be mentioned in the next Newsletter.
Newsletter
The feedback on the Christmas newsletter had been very favourable and it was decided to publish one every two months.
Speeding
There was a proposal that speed bumps could be installed. However, speed bumps would need street lighting. It was agreed that the issue of speeding would be on the agenda at the AGM and could then be fully discussed.
Drugs
It was reported that the area by the Church was again being used by drug users, possibly from Long Crendon. The Community Support Officer, who is regularly in Chearsley, was aware.
The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Monday 11th February at 7:30pm.
