On a few occasions during the year,
St Nicholas's Church hosts some special belling ringing. Starting around
10am on Monday 9th October, a visiting team of skilled ringers will be
attempting to ring a full peal.
A peal is a non-stop
sequence of a minimum of 5,000 changes where each sequence is different and
cannot be repeated. This takes around three hours to ring and is the bell ringers' equivalent of a marathon,
requiring concentration and stamina to complete the peal.
Please do listen out
for what promises to be some excellent ringing.
