Chearsley Cricket Club
John Howard, the Cricket Club’s Director of Fun and Games(!)  writes : "Third time lucky for the twice postponed Cricket Club Christmas Party, which finally took place on the evening of Saturday 8th January. Around 60 club members and “better halves” enjoyed a very convivial evening in the newly refurbished pavilion, reflecting on a most successful year for the club in 2010 and looking forward to an exciting season ahead. Events “downunder” also cropped up in one or two conversations during the evening .... and over £100 was raised for club funds into the bargain."

Cricket Club Venue for hire
During 2010, the Cricket Club pavilion was extended and fully refurbished. The Club is now able to offer a first class venue for hire at most reasonable prices, with a delightful outlook on the surrounding countryside – for parties, dinners, luncheons and other social or business events. The venue is fully equipped with a bar and kitchen. Heating is available for events during the winter months.

Habitat For Humanity
Sharon Sampson has been raising money for this cause throughout the year and is now delighted that the target of £1,235 has been reached. This amount will pay for the building of one house for a family living in poverty.  Sharon would like to thank everyone who has contributed by buying apples, hiring the bouncy castle, giving donations, attending Footsteps, the Christmas Nativity and supporting the Christmas Craft and Shopping evening.   For more information on the work that Habitat for Humanity does, please see their website www.habitatforhumanity.org.uk.

Recycling
Recycling baskets for cans, paper and plastics will be collected next on Tuesday 25th January.

Parish Council Meeting Monday 10th January
4 members of the public attended this meeting chaired by Nic Brown. Some of the points arising :
Footpaths : Peter Grimsdell  has volunteered to report on the state of footpaths in the parish and it is planned for him and AVDC to co-ordinate to ensure all footpaths, stiles etc are put in  good order.
Planning Matters : The planning application at High Bank, Dark Lane had been objected to by the Parish Council.  Proposed alterations to planning regulations by the Government inviting local parishes to become more involved in future planning should possibly be a matter for discussion at the annual Parish Meeting in April.
Traffic Calming : Marion Grapes reported that that snow had prevented useful traffic data being collected by the strips on the 3 approach roads into Chearsley. As a result, the strips would be relaid for a further 2 weeks from 17th January.
Precept : This is to be kept at £6,000. It was noted that replacement salt bins would cost £665 and that they had been regularly refilled.
Aylesbury Road and Crendon Road  : it was agreed to write to AVDC  about the deteriorating condition of the roads.
Christmas Tree : Sonia and Nigel Timberlake and Paul Oliver were thanked for the success of the Christmas tree and celebrations.
Seating in the Village  : the benches for The Green have still not been received from the manufacturers, although  the delivery date had been exceeded.  It was agreed to possibly purchase 2 of the smaller outside tables being sold by Jay of  the Tea rooms for placing in the village.  Quotes were still needed for work to the Village Green path.
Royal Wedding : it was agreed in principle that there should be celebrations to mark this occasion, possibly with a tea party for children in the village hall and for mugs to be given.
Date of the next meeting was arranged for February 14th at 7.30 in the Village Hall
