Chearsley Roadworks Update
“We’re approaching the end of the first week of our major roadworks.
What would have inevitably been a complex operation has been made yet more complicated by the extreme weather conditions of recent days, which has caused a number of short-term changes to be made in the planned schedule of works.
The laying of the final surface starts at the top of the village tomorrow morning (Friday) so we’d suggest that, if possible, those travelling to work should aim to depart from the village before 8am.
During the day, the various approach roads will be closed from time to time, and it will almost certainly be a case of reviewing matters with our traffic marshals on departure from and on return to the village.
We were promised as much support as possible ‘on the ground’ during these works. I have personally experienced some excellent co-operation from our workforce in difficult circumstances and I know this has also been the experience of many others.
For obvious reasons, we have been reluctant to publish any detailed information on the opening and closing of particular roads at specific times.
We would reiterate our general advice asking everybody to be patient and allow plenty of time to travel to and from the village and be prepared to change your route at short notice.
There’s still much to do, and some works on lanes within the village, including Shupps Lane and Dark Lane, will get underway next week.
So, for the moment, can I ask for understanding from us all please - some short term frustrations will deliver the best long term result for everyone.”
