Chearsley Village Hall and Covid-19 Update

With the latest lifting of restrictions by the Government some activities can now be booked and can take place inside the village hall. However the management committee for Chearsley Village Hall is keen to ensure that the safety and welfare of all hall users remains a top priority during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The hall is cleaned regularly and there is a no-touch hand sanitiser dispenser at the main entrance of the hall. There is disinfectant spray, soap and hand towels in the toilets and kitchen.  However, it will be the hirers responsibility to take all adequate steps to ensure that their users can remain at least at least 2 metres away from each other whilst inside (and outside) the hall and that users and hirers will space out 2 metres apart when queuing to enter the hall.   It is also the hirers responsibility to carry out a risk assessment to ensure compliance with the current government regulations in force for the activity or event that they propose to hold in the hall. If you have any questions please email chearsleyvillagehall@hotmail.co.uk

1st 2020 HGV Survey successfully held

This took place on 23/7 as planned. Many thanks to the ~40 villagers who took part. It was excellent to see such a large turnout throughout the day. Also a very special thanks to John Howard who carefully planned everything beforehand and on the day martialled operations with military precision and ensured everyone was briefed and equipped with sheets and clipboards etc. John and his team are now processing the data and will update in due course.

Chearsley Cricket

The Cricket club 1st and 2nd XI's have now started playing a number of friendlies on Saturdays and Sundays with the bar now open in the pavilion. So a great way to spend a pleasant and convivial afternoon while socially distanced. On Saturday 25th at 1pm the 2nds are playing Abingdon and on Sunday 26th at 12 the 2nds are playing Cuddington Kites. Nets have also restarted on Thursdays at 6-8pm. Note: The Pitchero mails are incorrect and refer to the pre-Covid planned schedule of matches.

Roadworks

The Crendon Chearsley roadworks are scheduled to be finished today (Friday 17/7) but there is always the possibility of overrun into next week. As ever the PC will try and flag any changes next Monday via WhatsApp, Facebook etc.

Commercial Vehicle Survey – more volunteers needed

The Parish Council’s Commercial Vehicle Survey is all set to take place during next Thursday (23rd July) but, despite many volunteering to help, there are still a few vacant time slots to be filled, to ensure that all vehicles are properly tracked through the whole survey period -  from 8am in the morning to 6pm in the evening.

The day will be divided into two hour ‘slots’ through the day and the task will be to record the entry and exit roads used by all vehicles travelling through the village.

The results of the survey will provide vital documentation for the PC discussions with all parties in working to minimise the number of HGV journeys through the village in the years ahead.

If you are available to help on 23rd July, please advise John Howard by email – jnh@dbmc.co.uk

A more detailed briefing will be provided before the day itself, including all relevant advice on ‘social distancing’.

Village Update

Church Services in July

Our principle service will remain online – available first thing Sunday on our YouTube channel – ‘3 Bucks Churches’:

In addition, we are introducing a new virtual coffee time via Zoom  at 11am every Sunday
This is to encourage fellowship within the church family regardless of whether you are worshipping at home or in church – a link will be sent out on our weekly email – contact Rev Richard on 01844 208987 if you’d like to receive it, or if you’d rather talk to someone on the phone at that time.

And finally, we are aiming to resume worship in the parish church once a month at 9.30am. The service in Chearsley will be on 12th July starting at 9.30am. Capacity is significantly restricted by the 2m distancing rule that remains in place for churches, so please do let Rev Richard or one of our wardens know if you’re planning to come along.

If you would feel more comfortable worshipping in the open air there will be some seating in the churchyard, with the service being broadcast in real time on outside speakers.

Commercial Vehicle Survey – new date Thursday 23rd July

The Parish Council has decided to postpone the Commercial Vehicle Survey from the originally planned date in the coming week (Thursday 9th July) to a new date:

Thursday 23rd July
(8.00 – 18.00 hours)

The latest advice received indicates that the Crendon Road will either be closed or have restricted access for several more days this week during completion of the roadworks and it is crucial that the survey takes place during ‘normal’ traffic conditions.

All other aspects of the survey will remain as indicated previously.

The day will be divided into two hour ‘slots’ from 8am through the day to 6pm and the main task will be to record the entry and exit roads used by all vehicles travelling through the village.

Some residents have kindly volunteered to help with data registration for the survey, but there are still a number of slots which need to be filled.
