Birthday Congratulations
James Arnott, of Marsh Farm, Nether Winchendon, and one of the staff at Chearsley Tea rooms, celebrated his 18th birthday recently with friends and family, which started by wearing the musical Birthday Hat provided by The Bell for birthday occasions. Congratulations James!

Mother’s Day at The Bell
Remember your Mother on March 14th and treat her to a meal at The Bell. Meals are being served from 12 until 4pm. It is advisable to book. Please see more information on their website.

Chearsley Flora and Fauna Fayre
This will be held on Saturday 26th June and volunteers are needed in many different ways to help make this a success. Maybe you would be interested in helping make giant flowers and animals for a magnificent display on The Green, or man one of the many stalls on the day itself. Donations are being asked for plants, books, good quality second-hand items, jewellery, etc. Please contact Claire Lazaruk at clairesamp@aol.com if you would like to get involved in any way, or have any ideas to offer.

Chearsley Cricket Club
Changes are occurring in many directions at our thriving and expanding Cricket Club, after an extremely successful year when both the 1st and 2nd XIs, under the captaincies of Neil Davies and Adam Lazaruk, were promoted. The club also finished 4th in the Aylesbury District Midweek League and has enjoyed friendly cricket games on Sundays. John Howard has been appointed Director of Fun and Games, (sounds interesting) replacing James Veness who is now the Director of Cricket as Nick Babington has stepped down. Catherine Miller is Director of Juniors and she is looking for a team manager in charge of the Under 13s’ team. If you are interested, please contact Catherine on 01844 208027.

The Club is looking forward to welcoming Paul Atkins as Club Coach at the end of March. for the Juniors on Tuesday evenings and the Elite Academy on Friday evenings. Paul has played first class cricket for Surrey and was Bucks’ captain for several years. He is currently in South Africa working with a first class side.

Pre-season training for seniors will start on Tuesday 9th March at Ashfold School from 8.15 to 9.30pm, with outside training on Thursdays starting in April when the weather permits.
In addition to changes in personnel, the clubhouse and grounds are being developed. The bar area and changing rooms are to be extended and the nets are to be relocated. All this work is being undertaken by members of the club and volunteers for weekend work parties are needed. Please contact Steve Vear on 01844 201347 for more details.

There is also an ambitious plan to create an entirely new ground to county standard, 100 yards further up the Winchendon Road, to be completed by 2014/15, together with a new pavilion.

More details about the Club can be found on their new website, which is accessible here.

Bins, bottles and baskets.
Glass, as well as the baskets for paper and plastics will be collected with the bins on Tuesday, 9th March.
