The Government has announced that Local Elections, including an election for Chearsley Parish Council, will be held on 6 May 2021.
On 1 February, the Parish Council issued advance notice of these elections, including encouragement to Chearsley residents to consider standing as a candidate for election. We noted that at least one existing Councillor has decided not to stand again. More details are provided on the Election 21 page of the Council website..
We have also now been advised of an on-line briefing on the nomination process that may be of interest to anyone considering putting their name forward. Nominations may be made either via the Parish Clerk or directly to the relevant Buckinghamshire Council electoral office in Aylesbury.
This briefing is intended primarily for Parish Clerks, to ensure they are familiar with the process, but the electoral office has confirmed that anyone interested in standing as a candidate can also attend and this will be particularly relevant to anyone who prefers to submit their nomination papers directly to the electoral office rather than via the Clerk.
The briefing will take place on Wednesday 10 March at 4pm.
